Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is a dangerous, highly unstable, and explosive substance. Right now, big polluter New Fortress Energy wants to take advantage of Trump-era rules that allow the transportation of volatile LNG by rail from northeast Pennsylvania to an export facility in Gibbstown, New Jersey on the Delaware River.
While New Fortress Energy stands to make huge profits, this project will:
- Put the communities along the densely populated 200-mile transportation route at risk from explosions.
- Threaten the watershed that supplies drinking water to over 13 million people.
- Drive the climate crisis by releasing large amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
