Stop the House GOP Majority from selling the country to Big Oil

On the heels of the record setting heat around much of the U.S. and the world, House Republicans are putting forward a bill filled to the brim with the worst elements of their extreme anti-environmental agenda.

This is yet another bad faith proposal in a long line of them, and we must tell House Republicans that we are fed up with their galling scientific ignorance and reactionary politics.

Tell your representative in the House to REJECT this dangerous bill and continue to oppose any shortsighted attempts to sell our country to Big Oil.

To be absolutely clear: this House GOP funding bill is a non-starter, with absolutely no basis in science or reality. It is as if the House majority views our shared public lands and waters as having just one purpose: unabated production of antiquated, dirty energy sources like oil and gas.

I am extremely disappointed by the House Republican majority’s proposed bill making appropriations for the Department of the Interior, EPA, and related agencies for fiscal year 2024. This bill is a legislative attack on our climate, carving out giveaways to the fossil fuel industry that go against not only our climate goals but common sense.

In particular, I am disappointed with the House GOP majority’s proposals to:

- Slash environmental funding to the lowest level in 30 years at a time when Americans are taking refuge from record-setting extreme heat

- Double down on dirty fossil fuels and mandated lease sales that shortcut critical safety and environmental review processes

- Dramatically reducing access to programs to ensure all Americans have access to safe drinking water

These short-sighted funding proposals come on the heels of the record-setting heat around much of the U.S. and the world, when we need to act swiftly on our worsening climate crisis, not expanding dirty and dangerous drilling.

I am fed up with the constant attempts to block clean energy in favor of more climate-wrecking fossil fuels.
