North Carolina's anti-climate legislators passed a bill that would make it easier to extend the Mountain Valley Pipeline into the state – and easier to put communities at risk for water contamination, explosions, and more.
The Regulatory Reform Act (HB 600) would block the NC Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) from imposing any conditions on the permit – like making sure that nearby communities and their water aren’t harmed by the pipeline’s construction and operation.
Governor Roy Cooper vetoed this bill, but NC lawmakers have one last chance to pass it by overriding his veto. We can't let that happen.
