Send fossil fuel CEOs a message of opposition now.

If there is a marine paradise on Earth that humanity can’t afford to lose, Mexico’s Gulf of California may be unsurpassed — it’s a World Heritage Site and a marine ecosystem of breathtaking beauty and global significance, home to 39 percent of all marine mammal species on Earth, including blue and fin whales, whale sharks, Leatherback sea turtles, and thousands of other wildlife species.
But a dangerous new proposal from Houston-based Mexico Pacific, backed by oil and gas giants like Shell, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, and more, would turn this natural gem into a fossil fuel sacrifice zone to export climate-destroying liquified natural gas (LNG) halfway around the world — and along with it, a massive amount of infrastructure, an endless succession of ocean-going LNG tankers traversing the Gulf for decades, and a significant contribution of climate-busting carbon and methane pollution.
If this project moves forward, endangered whales will die, countless other species will be under threat, and one of the most globally renowned areas of biodiversity anywhere on Earth will be fundamentally altered forever.
Here’s the truth: Raising our voices has never been more important than it is right now. We can’t rely on the government to defend our planet from destruction — the future is up to us. We must stop this short-sighted and destructive plan at all costs.
Tell the oil and gas giants to reverse course and cancel their plans to destroy this irreplaceable marine sanctuary for dirty energy profits.
