The EPA must stop the use of deadly hydrogen fluoride in oil refineries. Send a message NOW.

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
Hydrogen fluoride (HF) is an extremely dangerous chemical that can destroy skin, tissue, and bone, and can cause fatal lung damage when inhaled. Exposing as little as one percent of your skin to HF (about the size of your hand) can lead to death.
HF is used by more than 40 oil refineries across the United States, putting 19 million people in danger of getting caught in deadly vapor clouds that form when HF is released into the air. This doesn’t even include all the people along the trucking and train routes used to bring HF to these refineries.
The Toxic Substances Control Act requires the EPA to prohibit the use of HF in domestic oil refining and to eliminate the unreasonable risks it presents to public health and the environment.
But when NRDC filed a petition asking the Trump administration’s EPA to prohibit the use of this deadly chemical, they rejected it. The EPA refused to protect the public from the dangers of HF — so now we’re taking them to court.
While we’re in court, we need YOU to tell the EPA where you stand. Tell them to get deadly HF out of our communities.
