As your constituent, I urge you to oppose resolution S.J.Res. 80 that would roll back the plan that protects and manages multiple uses for the Western Arctic.

This blueprint is essential for balancing energy development, grazing, hunting, fishing, and habitat conservation in our nation’s most intact landscape. The plan was carefully created through years of public input from constituents like me, environmental review, and stakeholder collaboration.

If the resolution is passed and signed into law, it will essentially void this vital plan and set a dangerous precedent that threatens all our public lands.

Voiding the plan is a step toward giving away the Western Arctic to oil giants in the region.

More oil drilling threatens the Arctic ecosystem and its wildlife and will lock us into more fossil fuel addiction in a region that is warming more than four times faster than the rest of the world. Stopping drilling here is a crucial step to avert climate catastrophe.

Please defend Western Arctic protections before it’s too late.
