The Trump administration’s rarely used Endangered Species Committee, the so-called “God Squad,” illegally convened and unanimously voted to sacrifice endangered marine species that are getting in the way of their plans for expanding oil and gas drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.

If they’re successful, federally listed species like manatees and endangered sea turtles and whales will be driven further to extinction. And this could set a dangerous pattern, as the Trump administration will not stop at the Gulf.

This is the latest in a concerted effort by the administration to help Big Oil billionaires make more money while imperiled wildlife pay the price.
