Trump’s Interior Department is moving to gut the Oil and Gas Leasing Rule, which helps ensure the oil and gas industry is held accountable for pollution they generate on public lands.
Weakening this fundamental rule increases the risk of oil and gas companies not cleaning up their wells when they’re done drilling on public lands — polluting our air, contaminating our soil and water, generating more climate-busting greenhouse gas pollution, and leaving taxpayers to pay for the mess.
