The Trump administration issued two illegal presidential proclamations that gut Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments — more attempts to give away our iconic monuments and public lands to corporate polluters for drilling, mining, and logging.

As your constituent, I urge you to publicly oppose President Trump’s illegal presidential proclamations that gut Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments and take steps to permanently protect our iconic monuments and public lands.

The president does not have the authority to unilaterally strike down national monuments, and an attack on these monuments is an attack on all of America’s public lands.

These attacks put nearly 3 million acres of cherished public lands and wildlife at risk. Bears Ears is sacred, a place of healing above a high plateau. Grand Staircase–Escalante features wondrous multihued cliffs and canyon systems that showcase millennia of sedimentary rock formations and more than 15 dinosaur species have been discovered there.

A majority of voters do not support these attempts by the Trump administration to give away our public lands to corporate polluters for drilling, mining, and logging. We know our national monuments are too precious to lose.
