The Trump administration is rushing to open nearly 300,000 acres of public lands for oil and gas leasing in the Grand Canyon region – and right now is our best chance to stop this reckless plan in its tracks.

These nominated parcels include pristine areas less than one mile from the Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument and 12 miles from Grand Canyon National Park.

Pushing forward with these sales is another attempt to hand over our shared wildlands for corporate polluter profits. BLM itself acknowledges that there are minimal oil and gas resources in the region. Yet these leases could open the door to drilling operations that would inflict permanent harm on the Grand Canyon region's irreplaceable cultural heritage and geological wonders and deface pristine landscapes – with little demonstrated energy or economic benefit.

We must act: Submit your public comment opposing oil and gas leasing and dirty drilling near America’s most prized national treasures by the September 9 deadline.
