Tell Dollar Tree and Dollar General to stop promoting and selling products that harm our health.
Major discount stores like Dollar General and Dollar Tree are stocking personal care and household products on their shelves that openly contain PFAS and other toxic chemicals linked to health harms, including endocrine disruption, reproductive harm, and cancer, according to new data from the Campaign for Healthy Solutions.
The good news: Dollar Tree and Dollar General already have restrictions on products containing propylparaben. Dollar Tree has also committed to restricting PFAS in all private-label cosmetics by 2027 and four more parabens by 2028, and the retailer has a new policy that requires suppliers to be more transparent. And some states have instituted PFAS regulations that limit which products can be sold in Dollar Tree and Dollar General locations statewide.
The bad news: These steps are a good start, but with laws only in a few states, dollar stores can still sell products containing harmful chemicals nationwide. To truly protect consumers everywhere, both Dollar Tree and Dollar General need to hold all suppliers to the same standard: removing banned substances from every shelf, in every state.
These major discount chains can play a big role in our fight to get PFAS chemicals off store shelves — but they need to feel pressure from consumers like you. Add your name to NRDC’s petition today.
