Help Block Destructive Deep Sea Mining & Save Our Oceans

Block Deep Sea Mining & Save Oceans

The Trump administration is trying to push through the world’s first commercial deep sea mining lease sales across 100 million acres off American Samoa and the Mariana Islands. The proposed destructive industrial mining, scraping across the ocean floor, would smother marine habitats with toxic debris for hundreds of miles disrupting ecosystems that are vital to fisheries, economies, and island communities.

Help stop the Trump administration and the mining industry from annihilating the last unexplored frontier. Speak out in opposition to these reckless seafloor lease sales to stop deep sea mining before it’s too late.

The Trump administration is trying to push through the world’s first commercial deep sea mining lease sales across 100 million acres off American Samoa and the Mariana Islands. These proposed destructive operations would deploy massive industrial mining equipment across ocean floor ecosystems, smothering marine habitats with toxic debris for hundreds of miles.

We know so little about the deep sea, but we do know that destructive mining on this scale would likely cause significant and irreversible harm: species that are only found in the deepest parts of the ocean, like the dumbo octopus and the Samoan chambered nautilus, would be at risk, and livelihoods of island communities would be threatened.
