The Biden Administration has a proposal to help states reduce transportation pollution

President Biden’s Department of Transportation (DOT) released a proposal that would require states to measure greenhouse gas pollution from their highway and transportation programs and come up with plans to reduce those emissions. States must track and set targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from national highways.

President Biden’s Department of Transportation (DOT) released a proposal that would require states to measure greenhouse gas pollution from their highway and transportation programs and come up with plans to reduce those emissions.

We have an important opportunity to help encourage states to put the historic transportation investments toward sustainable solutions!

Only in the past decade have public officials gotten serious about measuring the performance of our transportation system in terms of its safety and quality. But those efforts will never be complete if states don't account for climate pollution and find ways to reduce emissions on highways across the country. This proposal is an important step toward a more sustainable transportation future across the United States.

States must track and set targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from national highways.
