Governor Shapiro must keep fighting for Pennsylvania’s climate future

The Commonwealth Court just issued a ruling that would prevent Pennsylvania from participating in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative – a multi-state program designed to slash carbon emissions while raising funds to invest in cleaning up air pollution.

Now, Governor Shapiro and the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) have until December 1 to appeal the Commonwealth Court’s decision.

The Commonwealth Court just issued a ruling that would prevent Pennsylvania from participating in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initative – a multi-state program designed to slash carbon emissions while raising funds to invest in cleaning up air pollution.

Fossil fuel interests have tried their best to protect their profits by delaying Pennsylvania’s participation in RGGI. During that time, the state has missed out on over $1.5 billion to invest in local communities. But the fight isn’t over yet.

Governor Shapiro and the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) have until December 1 to appeal the Commonwealth Court’s decision.
