The Trump administration’s attacks on offshore wind are about protecting fossil fuels, not families. The administration attempted to stop five nearly completed offshore wind projects that would power 2.5 million U.S. homes.

Instead of delivering affordable, reliable clean energy, this administration is forcing families to pay billions to keep outdated coal and gas plants running — threatening clean energy jobs, raising utility bills, and deepening the climate crisis.

I am writing to urge you to defend offshore wind projects and the clean energy jobs and cost savings they bring to U.S. residents.

The Trump administration is working to block offshore wind, including Revolution Wind, which is over 80 percent complete and would power 350,000 homes in the Northeast by next year. Revolution Wind has also already generated more than 2 million union labor hours across more than 1,000 local union jobs. If this one project goes unfinished, it would drive up electricity bills in the northeast half a billion dollars each year.

We cannot afford higher costs, and our nation cannot afford to stall climate progress. Halting projects not only threatens these good-paying union jobs to build wind farms, but also undermines manufacturers in 40 states working to produce parts or services for the offshore wind industry.

I urge you to stand up to these attacks by voicing your strong support for offshore wind projects — and all of the businesses that support it — to the Trump administration. This will ensure residents can access affordable and reliable clean power when we need it most.
