Help Protect Polar Bears and Walruses from Arctic Drilling

Backed by the fossil fuel industry, a new Trump administration proposal would allow oil and gas companies to kill, harm, or capture threatened polar bears, particularly cubs still in their dens, and Pacific walruses as a result of their dirty drilling in the Arctic. Help show massive opposition to this disastrous proposal: Submit your public comment by the April 8 deadline.

At the request of its fossil fuel industry cronies, the Trump administration’s Interior Department just issued a dangerous proposal that would allow oil and gas companies to kill, harm, or capture threatened polar bears, particularly cubs still in their dens, and Pacific walruses that may interfere with drilling in the Beaufort Sea and Alaska’s Arctic coast.

The administration is now seeking public comments about this disastrous proposal, but only until April 8 — so we need as many people as possible to speak up and say no to giving Big Oil a free pass to hurt marine mammals.

The request is on top of the harm that drilling has already inflicted upon threatened and majestic marine mammals, from ship strikes to deafening seismic testing, amidst their struggle to survive shrinking habitat and a rapidly warming climate.

The U.S. is already the world’s leading producer of oil and gas; we don’t need to clear the way for more drilling that harms threatened marine mammals. This plan is yet another attack on imperiled wildlife and their wild habitat to boost fossil fuel industry profits.
