California: Stand Up to Rising Gas Costs and Pollution

Stand Up to Rising Gas Costs

Governor Newsom has until September 30 to pass the Home Energy Choice Act to lower energy bills and pollution. If passed, California residents would have the option to cut costs by electrifying their homes when it's time to replace their gas lines.

The California legislature has passed critical legislation to lower energy bills and pollution — now we need the Governor to sign.

The Home Energy Choice Act (AB 2313) would give California homeowners the option to cut costs by electrifying their homes when it's time to replace their gas lines.

This is not only better for our climate and our wallets, it’s better for our health. Gas appliances are:

  • A significant source of indoor air pollutants linked to asthma, heart disease, and respiratory illness
  • An earthquake fire risk — 25% of all fires after earthquakes start because of natural gas leaks
  • A key source of deadly carbon monoxide leaks

Californians should have a choice in whether we continue bolstering gas company profits or switch to cleaner, more affordable energy alternatives.

Take action before September 30: Stand up against gas companies keeping us locked into volatile fossil fuel prices, air pollution, and ever-rising utility bills. Tell Governor Newsom to sign the Home Energy Choice Act.
