Add Your Name: Tell Paper Manufacturers to Protect Forests, Protect People

Many of the most widely available toilet paper, paper towel, and tissue brands rely on wood pulp from centuries-old trees chopped down in places like the boreal forest of Canada. This widespread clearcutting for disposable paper products degrades wildlife habitat and releases millions of tons of carbon pollution that's been locked in old-growth trees for centuries.
It also puts people at risk. Companies' sourcing and production practices, combined with weak corporate oversight, can threaten public health, livelihoods, cultural practices, and the rights of Indigenous communities.
It doesn't have to be this way. Companies have the tools to produce sustainable alternatives — but they need to feel pressure from consumers like you to follow through.
Public pressure is already working. Some companies are changing their sourcing decisions, increasing their use of recycled materials, and investing in more sustainable alternative fibers that reduce strain on forests.
